Atu's experimental R&B beats had been introduced to the world through French musician Sango in March 2013. From Ann Arbor, Michigan, Atu's soulful hip hop sound was bound to resonate with the community due to his high level of emotional integration with classical instruments and heavy ethereal reverb. Atu first released Pictures on Silence with beat collective Soulection as a benefit cause towards Everychild, an international development charity for providing financial assistance to youth in rural areas of Malawi. Since then, Atu has been taking the time to manifest creativity in the studio with producers such as Dpat and Sango.
Although only two minutes long, "007" is reflective of the beauty we anticipate. It's the seventh song of a series called Create & Explore, which is a collaborative project curated by Ta-Ku and Michael Salisbury aiming to produce a conversation between mediums both auditory and visual. "007" achieves power through gripping vocals and organic sounds such as pattering rain drops and thunder. The classical guitar, subtle chords, and 90s R&B inspired hip hop beat is spiritually piercing. Atu's "007" partner Suffoca, TheHundreds contributor and iconic photographer, has also created a visual as equally stimulating as the production work.
