Dr Meaker's latest single is indicative of British popular music's state at the moment, and what those of us in North America are starting to see trickle in to our world. Hailing from talent breeding ground of Bristol, the electronic octet is due to release "Freaks," a single that brings electronica, pop, R&B and drum and bass together featuring Cappo D and Sharlene Hector this April via Circus Records. But that's not before the track goes viral, seeing it's over 600,000 plays on SoundCloud in one month.

Today we've got a special first listen to one of the forthcoming remixes of the track, done by MyDon. Transforming the original into a retro, 808-focused track accented by 1990s acid, "Freaks" becomes an echoing underground track with Hectors powerful vocals fluttering in the distance. Check it out below.

Upcoming Tour Dates:

  • 21/03/15 – The Phoenix – Exeter (live)
  • 27/03/15 – The Attic – Bristol (live)
  • 24/05/15 – Love Saves The Day Festival – Bristol (DJ/PA)
  • 30/05/15 – Plymouth University – (live)
  • 06/06/15 – Beat Check – Milton Keynes (DJ/PA)
  • 11/07/15 – Oyster Festival – Cornwall – (live)
  • 18/07/15 – Godney Gathering – Glastonbury (live)
