You may have heard of Dutch artist Mar, via Full Crate x Mar, and their deep house hits, “Nobody Else” and “Man x Woman.” Mar’s solo work, however, proves he is capable of so much more. His new single, “Not Like Here,” which he wrote and co-produced with Beau Damian, is lifted off his forthcoming EP, When We Meet, due in May. If it’s any indication of the direction this project is heading, then we’re on board.
“Not Like Here” is peculiar to typical R&B songs because it’s given a delectable future-bass twist. While Mar serenades us, we come across unexpected pitch drops, and heavy treads of galactic-bass.
In a brief interview with 405, he explained the inspiration behind the track to be, “A mental disconnection with humans sometimes.” Mar has found a way to channel this idea, process, and conflict into an intriguing and moving auditory odyssey. Now, it's your turn to discover for yourself.
