Amidst France’s currently booming grounds for futuristic music, one of their most exciting and promising talents is Phazz. I’ve had my eye on him for a year now, since his incredibly impressive debut EP Marble, which I contine to bathe in regularly. The thing about Phazz is that he creates sounds that vigorously enrapture you, they’re not just for background murmur.
As we eagerly await his imminent sophomore EP, we are pleased to premiere a new single from our beloved virtuoso. “Casino” is lifted off Nowadays Record’s spring compilation tape, NWDS #3, featuring other French beatmakers like Everydayz (who Phazz is working on an LP with), Fakear, Hoosky, and more. Normally, I would describe Phazz's music as very sensual or powerful (or both), but this time, he presents something rather playful and lively with the fittingly titled “Casino.” Phazz seems to be having fun playing games here, with milky synths, bouncy drums, rattles, and the expectedly crazy vocal chops….Or maybe it’s his game we’re playing…
Phazz just embarked on his first USA and Canada tour, so give him a warm welcome if he’s in your town.
