One of the best things about dance music is the propensity for artists and labels to put out remix releases. Tomorrow, Ultra Music is releasing Salsoul & West End Remixed Vol. 8 featuring remixes by three Body Heat artists: Rocoe, Msystem, and Couch Potatoes. Body Heat is a music collective dedicated to the funkier side of things in all of it current forms, including Turbofunk, a genre that sits between Nu-Disco, French Touch, and Electro. The result is an epic combination of distinctive 70’s samples, fat drums, syncopated rhythms, slapped bass, chopped-up vocals, and epic breakdowns.

The first track of Salsoul & West End Remixed Vol. 8, Rocoe’s remix of Aurra’s “A Little Love,” delivers just that, with his syncopated percussion and driving beat setting the tone. Beautiful, funky synths and the bass line provide the perfect groundwork for the vocals.

Msystem sets the tone of the second track, his remix of Double Exposure’s “My Love is Free,” with a crisp, syncopated percussion and organic piano chords. The real gem of this track is the vocals, which undoubtedly make this track stand out ahead of the rest, as does the inclusion of distorted guitar synths in the last fourth of the track.

Couch Potatoes turns up the tempo for the last track of Salsoul & West End Remixed Vol. 8, his remix of Skyy’s “Call Me,” with a crisp percussion driving guitar synth, and a walking bassline. As with the other two tracks, the vocals on “Call Me” shine above the rest and nicely round out this absolutely funky remix.

This is one funky remix release that simply can’t be missed. Pick up copy when it drops tomorrow, February 6th, on Ultra Music.
