Great Dane, co-founder of LA’s TeamSupreme collective, is about to release his third LP. The self-titled Great Dane is going to be his most personal work yet, an honest expression of his emotions that will resonate with his listeners. After all, music is [should be] a medium for the soul, right? Last week, he dropped the single “DVN3,” off the forthcoming LP, and today we are going to tease you with another one, “Fairhaven.”
In “Fairhaven,” the modest bass takes the back seat, and the star of the show here is the gossamer synths, charmingly topped off by cascading wood blocks. Without giving away too much, Dane tipped off that the song was motivated by a tragedy that hit close to home. Even without knowing his explicit intentions, through [the power of] music, he evokes a palpable sense of remembrance, in a way that connects with listeners.
