Last weekend, Ryan Hemsworth returned to Diplo's BBC Radio 1Xtra show, Diplo and Friends, delivering an incredible Valentine's Day mix that could only have come from his eclectic, whimsical mind. The hour-long mix features everything from Blink-182 remixes to Star Fox samples to Rae Sremmurd, but a clear highlight is Secret Sun's song, "Feather," reimagined by fellow Canadian producer Will Diebel, a.k.a. Deebs.
The original version of "Feather" seems practically tailor-made for this remix, it's creeping synth line reminiscent of Diebel's most recent EP, Songs4UByMe. He takes this subtle similarity and runs with it, replacing the majority of the vocals with extra bass and bone-rattling percussion, resulting in a hard-hitting hip-hop track. Deebs is slated for a spot at SXSW this year, and is sure to have lots more material on the way as well.
