Money is a necessary evil. Welcome to the “New Religion.” In Jazz Cartier’s new single, we see a different attitude come to play. Cartier gloriously effectuates a Young Thug type of wheeze and stammer, as he makes the domineering proclamation: “As God at my witness, Money is my new religion…” The bobbing, trap-inflected beat is by his go-to producer, Lantz, and they got the auto-tuned vox just right.
Cartier comes from Toronto, though, was raised around the world. He has a handful of tracks out at the moment, but he’s already proven to be a quick-witted, versatile, and introspective artist who evokes a vigorous energy that makes the limelight imminent.
“New Religion” is off his debut album Marauding in Paradise, coming out this spring. Keep an eye out for Toronto’s next. It’s Jacuzzi Season.
