As a boom-bap fiend in the fullest sense, I've been missing some hard hitting drums and snappy snares in my music rotation as of late. Whether you blame it on on being busy with other commitments or having to look a little harder to find great acts from the East Coast, know that there are great gems–or better yet, Spit Gemz–out there for the taking. After 2013's End The TV, the Brooklyn based heavyweight has been keeping busy by honing his craft; thankfully, Gemz has unleashed some new music for us to vibe out to.

Filmed in a very snowy Brooklyn (aka a normal Canadian day in July,) "Common Knowledge" has the lyrical titan go through his daily grind as he drops rhymes galore over a crisp beat supplied by Aye Wun. The track plays out like a "Memory Lane" of sorts, as Gemz recalls hanging around the after spots and smoking and drinking from a ripe young age. Make sure to keep Spit Gemz on your radar–his next project, Godly Features, is set to drop sometime next month and will feature a slew of lyrical balsk including Royal Flush, Kool G. Rap, Tragedy Khadafi and Shabaam Sahdeeq.
