With dance music's booming popularity, the public's taste for the sounds they like seems to be more fleeting with every day. Artists whose bread and butter was once hardcore festival electro have quickly jumped on the Oliver Heldens bandwagon, changing their signature synths to grittier, deeper underground ones. While many welcome this change, with the huge wave that the trend has taken on there is one inevitability that has been a complaint of the dance community as it's grown: homogeneity.
Enter Jake Liedholm, (or as many once knew him, Jakob Liedholm) to renew our faith in the constantly evolving community. The Swedish producer who gained massive notoriety under his home country's signature melodic progressive house style at its fastest growing in popularity has since grown a little older, gone through a few monikers and some experimentation among other releases and mixes. And today, he goes on as "Jake" to give us a track that is a perfect evolution of his style in "Long Nights." Without forcing it, he's deepened his sound while keeping that old school progressive house energy and capriciousness. There's a grittiness that when paired with synths that by themselves could belong to a tropical house track, but here, are worldly, ethnic and unstoppable.
