One of San Diego's current cultivators of house music goes by the name of Rambo V. I've covered some stuff in the past, but his newest joint "Catalina Bounce" has been instantly hailed as a universal favorite amongst his circles. When I spoke with him about the track, he even suggested a good location for his label, Next Wave Records, would be Catalina. I guess golf carts, beaches, drinking, and tourists are the four things to keep in mind when listening.
Remixes are definitely the kid's fashion, but this one stands strong as an original. There's an island feel of course, but not what most people are tuned into: tropical house. Rambo fades this one left to right, truly mastering the track in much more detail than previous releases (or so it seems). If you're looking for a low toned house track with some jargon thrown into the mix, then "Catalina Bounce" is the anthem for you.
