Mocki gets wet and wild in new video for "Weekend" [Video Premiere]

Mocki is off to a big start in 2015 releasing the infectiously poppy and completely irresistible "Weekend."  The song comes out on all outlets today from Kitsune Maison with an excellent remix by rising producer Jai Wolf. (The remix is featured on Kitsune's New Faces 2 compilation, out Feb. 23.)  The Berlin-born three piece, consisting of singer-songwriter Domino and German producing duo Sister, bring a bit of everything to this track, dabbling in pop, disco, dance and a dash of punk.  The resulting sound is something like a combination of early RAC with the gusto of a vocalist like Chela.

The music video, premiering exclusively on EARMILK, adds enjoyable another layer to the "Weekend" story.  The setting is an indoor pool illuminated by the reds and blues of the dance floor.  When Mocki hit the first chorus, a woman dives in and starts performing an intricate and exquisite synchronized swimming routine by herself.  A challenger approaches during the second verse, sizing up our protagonist before previewing her dance on the pool deck and diving.  Our protagonist eventually joins in a grand finale of synchronized splashing and incredible water dancing.  The video ends on a shot of the swimmers linking arms, ostensibly making peace after realizing one another's talents.

Synchronized swimming isn't used nearly enough in music videos these days, but thankfully, Mocki is hear to the rescue to show us how it should be done.
