There are girls who long to be serenaded by Ed Sheeran, and then there are badass girls, like myself, who would rather hear Future groan, “I just want to take you out and show you off…I won me a trophy.” So, when a beloved producer, like OZZIE, gets his hands on such a sample, it's game over.
OZZIE is a 21-year-old from Brighton, who caught my attention a while back for his sampling prowess and exceptional instrumentals, touched by innovative trap effects. His standout tracks include “XO,” “Smokin and Drinkin,” and “Gangsta,” but I highly suggest exploring the rest of his worthwhile catalogue. OZZIE was featured in our Top 30 Producers to Watch in 2015 list, and his newest track proves this to have been a wise call. In “Trophy,” he recalibrates Future and Kanye’s hit, “I Won,” into an addictive, gritty melody. Vibe on.
