The folktronic or electrofolk genre is not new and has been around for nearly two decades. Bands like Badly Drawn Boy and Four Tet helped put the scene on the map and now new artists like Caribou are championing the genre and pushing it to new boundaries. Another group that is new to the scene but is already making a name for themselves is the Brooklyn trio Howard. This trio uses handcrafted samples, haunting melodies and raw vocals that will have you swooning into the dark with the group. As the group gears up to release their debut LP, Religion, out January 20th, they have released the lead single “Falling.” Dissonant arpeggios pour over rim-shots that flow under the smoky vocals flourishing in every measure. Fall into love with this Folktronic group and keep your ear out for their LP that will be released next week.
