2014 was a year in which the more independent rapper saw their stock rise. As the use of sites such as Bandcamp generate money for their projects and become ever more popular, the more self-sufficient emcee saw their own growth being supported more than ever. One such rapper to benefit from the increase in options of promoting your music was Chester Watson, who took 2014 by the scruff of the neck and ran with it. Following the release of his incredibly dope mixtape/album Tin Wooki, alongside a few beat tapes which show his talent behind the boards, Chester was the underground rapper on everyones lips in 2014.
The young St Louis native is hell bent on progressing even more in 2015, and with just over a week down in 2015 already (how fast did that go?!), Chester just dropped his latest video for his laid back joint "Trident". The Julia UpdeGraff-directed visuals show the Florida resident hanging out with his homies, smoking and enjoying one of his favourite hobbies; skating. Backed by a chilled boom bap beat, Watson comes through with his supremely cool flow, which is matched equally by his clever lyricism, a trait which has seen him compared to the likes of Earl Sweatshirt in recent years.
You can stream Chester Watson's video for "Trident" below, and if you're feeling what you're hearing, you should definitely check out Chester's latest mixtape Tin Wooki, over on his Bandcamp.
