The next generation of Los Angeles' underground hip-hop scene has arrived in the form of the Strange Friends Collective (STRNG FRNDS), who are a rag-tag group of LA based artists, producers, and rappers all heavily influenced by the Low End Theory scene and internet culture at large. The most recognizable member (and founder) of the crew is Shangozeropoint, whose project Nothing is Original, was well received by critics this year for blending technical introspective lyrics with some of the best experimental production that LA has to offer.
Last month, the collective started a series of bi-weekly free releases called Strange Saturdays. The first official release was titled "KK Slider" featuring some eerie production from RND1 and abstract wordplay from Shango and fellow STRNG FRND Mako. They both manage to make a heavy impression on this track, spitting with skill & perception that is way beyond their years. Check it out below and make sure to come back to EARMILK for your music needs!
