Carl Craig takes Caribou's "Your Love Will Set You Free" out for a spin

With 2014 coming to a close, year-end lists are on everyone's mind, and Dan Snaith's latest album as Caribou, Our Love, is sure to be on just about all of them.  The LP saw Caribou fully embracing the dancefloor, a world Snaith had initially explored as his alter ego, Daphni.

It's not just Caribou who's embracing dance music, though; the scene is giving him a big ol' hug right back, with techno deity Carl Craig serving as official ambassador.  He's offered up his take on Our Love's closing track, "Your Love Will Set You Free," adding dramatic swells and more forthright percussion to what was originally a fairly hushed production.  I would have liked to see Craig take this even further in his own direction, but it's still a great remix, and an olive branch between the two opposite ends of the electronic music spectrum.

I received my degree in English from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, and Virginia is still home. Apart from my yearly pilgrimage to Moogfest and occasional shows in DC, Detroit, and New York, I like to stick to the fringes, with an eye always open toward music that is forward-thinking and unique, whatever the genre.
