When not playing bass as a part of an international hip hop seven-piece or playing guitar at his college's TED-sponsored Student Speaker Series Afika Nx is finding ways to pull apart from the circulating hip hop styles. Adding depth to his music by injecting it with nods to other genres, the South African-based artist blends hip hop, pop, RnB and even rock elements into his sound.
His latest single, entitled "Rat Tat Tat" finds Afika Nx in feel good form. Built around a catchy hook, "Rat Tat Tat" is fueled by its weighted progression and changing vocal style. To accompany the unexpected, Afika Nx's "Rat Tat Tat" shines through.
