New York City-based duo Beacon are set to release the L1 EP, the first release we've seen from them since last year's debut album The Ways We Separate. You can now stream two of the lead tracks, "L1," and "Fault Lines," ahead of the Nov. 30 release through Ghostly International.
Vocalist Thomas Mularney III has a voice a lot like Thom Yorke's; a bit sad, even tortured at times, and sonically able to go where many singers just can't. Interestingly, Jacob Gossett's production is also reminiscent of Radiohead. The beats skitter along, while the synth tones are chilly and robotic. Beacon aren't as pessimistic as the Brit rock royalty, though. In fact, their songs are often quite hard to read, suggesting many different emotions at once. This dynamism suggests that the duo will be an act to watch, and more than deserve the prestigious label they call home.
