Slow Magic and Odesza are both having quite a year. After demolishing the blog scene with their seemingly-synchronized album releases (How to Run Away and In Return, respectively), they embarked on sold-out solo tours through North America. Now they've linked up for a joint European tour, bringing Craft Spells, Lindsay Lowend, and others along for the ride. We here in America are a tad bit jealous of this news.
Slow Magic and Odesza are beyond tour mates though, they're clearly pals (despite Slow Magic being some sort of mythical creature, of course). He previously did a nice job remixing the duo's smash hit "Say My Name," and now they've returned the favor, adding some exotic new flavors to his song "Waited 4 You," the remix premiering yesterday via Thissongissick, who are offering it as a free download.
The two artists are musically compatible in some ways, but they also can inhabit very different moods. While In Return is an outright ecstatic affair, How to Run Away is harder to read, with tinges of sadness evident throughout. So, it's not too surprising that the Odesza version of "Waited 4 You" is the brighter of the two. They make the track their own, adding their trademark utopian synths and pitch-shifting the vocals up into Alvin & the Chipmunks-level territory. If you're in Europe don't miss this tour, it could very well be one of the best shows you'll see, ever. Dates are below.
