The UK hip hop scene has been flourishing in recent months, there's no debating that. A culture that was so strong back in the late 90's/early 00's with artists such as Fallacy and Rodney P donning the UK hip hop crowns, has seemed to stutter and fade over the past few years. But fear not, as lately we've had a resurgence as some fresh new talents fights its way up.
One such outfit to start turning heads in the British Isles is Grand Wa Zoo, a trio made up of Jay Ryo and Lilli from North West London, who have a penchant for American hip hop with a British front. Their latest single, "Von D", has been given the visual treatment, which see's the trio rolling through the streets of London, in the uplifting video. The track itself features a smooth jazzy sample over the top of a bangin' trap-like beat, as we hear Lilli provide a soulful hook whilst Ryo and Jay come through with some real TOUGH verses, riding the beat with ease.
