Swiss-born, UK-based producer Sebastian Carter is on a hot streak at the ripe age of 20. He's been releasing music for just over a year, and has impressed with his portfolio of remixes (of songs by Banks, Alt-J, Birdy and many more) and original tracks. As he has put out more and more musical heat, he has racked up hundreds of thousands of listens on SoundCloud. In celebration of hitting the 10,000 followers mark, Carter has released his take on Slow Magic's "On Yr Side," off the producer's 'How to Runaway' LP.
Carter's remix maintains Slow Magic's original structure, adding flourishes of deep house, bright synthesizer riffs and chopped vocal sampling (a la Flume). The result is a hard-hitting track that builds off of the original's eerie yet upbeat emotion and makes the song accessible for revelers on the dance floor. Considering this remix in addition to his past work, it's clear that Carter is bringing a new sound to electronic music. Listeners should pay attention.
