Pushing a lo-fi sound, Cold Fronts have a very familiar and accessible style. With their music in the past bordering early The Strokes with heavy set guitars at one end, at the other they have resembled a mix of early Hot Hot Heat and Weezer with their vocal hooks and overall structure. In leading up to the release of their impending EP Forever, Cold Front's have released their newest song "Hit Me", which finds the band diving head first into their own unique style.
Filled with the driven hooks found on their previous material, "Hit Me" does at its name entails and packs quite a punch. Instead of the usual tactic of utilizing vocals to drive the point home, they mainly carry the song through the get go, but never elevate to become overly intrusive, playing off of the instrumentation in a seamless back and forth. The song's real spotlight can be found around the 2-minute mark, where a guitar-focused section steals the show, breaking up the song as well as foreshadowing the heavy finale. Included with the release of the song is the following lyric video that presents emulsification of what looks to be oil in water thrown through different lenses.
