For you tiny dancers I referenced last week, the fun is NOT over. We heard the CHVRCHES-like track "Switch On" from Brooklyn duo/band PROM, and immediately (and I'm assuming you all enjoyed it like I did, because how couldn't you) we all threw up our hands in indie joy. Finally, a new sound for a seemingly well-dominated genre over the past year.
Well, today I have a new one for you. It's dubbed "My Line" and captures all of the traits I feel a high-powered indie band should have. It's a very synth heavy track, with an 80's style bassline and the kind of atmosphere you feel whilst dreaming. I love the amount of ambient sounds they utilize when the song is in its simplest form, and the intense kicks they use as the track progresses. Truly a wonderful example of how solid your music must be as a progressive rock band.
I first compared them to Misterwives, but this new release is more along the lines of epic proportions: I'm thinking a cross between Arcade Fire and Naked and Famous. Take a listen to "My Line" below, and check out more PROM hits here.
