RÜFÜS DU SOL goes deep for remix of ZHU's "Paradise Awaits"

RÜFÜS DU SOL is a trio out of Sydney, Australia, currently in the midst of an extensive U.S. tour.  Refreshing for their use of live instrumentation in their house music, they are quickly gaining a reputation as an act to be watched closely.  Now they've remixed another buzz magnet, ZHU, and his track "Paradise Awaits."

The original track is already quite dance-friendly, but also has a classic verse-chorus pop structure, ZHU waxing poetic about "walking around talking my shit" and "the naked women in my bed." RÜFÜS DU SOL take a more club-oriented approach, simplifying the lyrics, which gives them room to tinker with what remains.  They show considerable skill as remixers here, dissembling the pieces and rebuilding them into a deep house masterpiece.  Do not miss these Aussie's live show, dates are below.

I received my degree in English from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, and Virginia is still home. Apart from my yearly pilgrimage to Moogfest and occasional shows in DC, Detroit, and New York, I like to stick to the fringes, with an eye always open toward music that is forward-thinking and unique, whatever the genre.
