Oceaán is an British producer based out of Manchester, who has been crafting some of the most inventive R&B inspired electronic jams of late. His smooth but murky signature style has made him a standout on the blogosphere, especially since the release of his debut 'Oceaán EP' a few months ago via Chess Club Records.
The producer's newest creation titled "Grip" moves away his signature neo-soul sound, but instead utilizes sounds inspired by the minimalist UK garage/house music scene. The slow build-up, soft synth work, distinct drum patterns, and patchy vocal work is very reminiscent of a James Blake or Mount Kimbie production, with all of the track's subtle parts layered intricately to create something that is obviously off-kilter but is also easily accessible (the breakdown here is nothing short of immaculate).
