Transitioning from a mixtape to a studio album is no easy task. While the expectations for what constitutes a good free tape versus a full length project in terms of quality are constantly evolving due to guys like Lil Wayne and Drake and their meticulous work ethic, some artists want to play it fast and loose with their music – effectively clocking themselves out of the game. Unlike the aforementioned Young Money artists, making the jump from free to paid and vice versa can result in a lackluster response from the fans, especially when the tapes outshine the albums (we're looking at you, Big Sean and J.Cole)

But Maryland's Logic is a different type of artist: one that treats his career more like a marathon and less like a sprint. The Visionary Music Group rapper has grown his audience at an exponential rate over the years and his hard work has definitely paid off. "Under Pressure," which is also the name of his debut album, has Logic in his wheelhouse as he blends his crafty wordplay with the self produced beat. Though the track clocks in at nearly 4 minutes, some sources are claiming that this is just one piece of the song, as noted by the beat transition towards the end of this version. If you're like me and can't wait for the album to drop, mark your calendars for October 21st.
