London-based electronic team Zoo Station has transformed Sigma and Paloma Faith's "Changing" into a thumping club banger. The team started churning out remixes last year, starting with Lorde's "Royals," but haven't gained much traction online yet. Production duo Sigma is having a similar problem breaking through in the U.S. "Nobody to Love," their drum and bass treatment of a sample from Kanye West's "Bound 2" hit number one on the UK official charts last spring but never made waves stateside.
Zoo Station's "Changing" remix could change that. Smooth backing vocals and buoyant piano notes draw listeners in before the remix takes a more aggressive turn. UK garage beats drop in, substituting for Sigma's usual drum and bass, while Paloma Faith attacks the vocals with her usual tenacity. Leading into the chorus, the beat transitions to a more traditional house drop before Paloma belts out about her life remaining static as the world changes around her. Soon after, the song returns to its garage sound, putting Paloma on anthem-leading duty as she chants to the throbbing bass.
Sigma and Zoo Station don't have plans to cross the pond anytime soon, but you can catch Paloma at an intimate venue near you when she embarks on her latest U.S. tour at the end of September.
