"I got a quarter tank, quarter of dank, quarter of drank, nothin' but my thoughts…"
Remember "Mr. Slick"? The DMV rapper Black Zheep DZ has been at it for a while now, and you can see the professional aspect of his career really begin to emerge. Not only are his productions beginning to excel, but his voice is becoming more and more distinct.
It's truly exciting to see all of these artists I've worked with grow bigger and bigger. Black Zheep definitely blows me away with the selection of production on this one, calling in D.K. the Punisher to do the dirty work on the keys. I've always appreciated DZ's instrumental nature, but D.K. adds a bit of that extra tuning you need in a great hip hop track. The synths are warm, Black's voice is low, and the unmistakable style is real (present).
"Big Bank Rolls" is a flashy track, telling DZ's story of his accomplishments. I'd like for this story to grow longer, and the only way it can is with many more hits like this one. Take a listen to the jam now, and get ready for the release of Black Zheep DZ's 8th World due out sometime Fall 2014.
