The lovely Salt Ashes has a brand new, fiery track for us, and incorporates several elements of her inspirations. We hear her Daft Punk disco synths and Kate Bush electricity, and she easily does them justice. I hate to sound like Pandora, but if you like Charli XCX, then you’ll more than likely love this song. If not, there are plenty of differences that set her apart, and make her a unique artist to keep an ear out for. The deliberate and slightly breathy vocals mix perfectly with all the bright and bouncy elements of the beat, not to mention the melody is to die for and perpetually addicting.
I had first heard of her from Satin Jackets' remix of her song “Somebody”, and thought, “who is this girl?!” Given, that track had a much different feel than this one, it only made me appreciate her versatility more. Overflowing with talent, and effortlessly immersing herself into such a wide spectrum of sounds, she is someone who will be enjoyed all across the board.
