NephLon Don is the latest fresh artist to get involved in Chox-Mak and DJ YRS Jerzy’s 90’s Flow movement. The Philadelphia rapper showcases his lyrical prowess over Profluent’s kicked-back production which has “turned down the tempo of what everyone is putting out”. “Words Of Wisdom” is a shot from both camps at creating a raw, straight up rap tune that hails back to a forgotten time of urban music which produced consistently true to life poetry. Consistency is an attribute that Mak and Jerzy clearly pride themselves on, but that doesn’t mean they only play it safe, as they continue to work with other exciting underground prospects such as NephLon.
“Words Of Wisdom” creates autumnal vibes as fall approaches with a cold, steady beat and some equally breezy vocals from two examples of why independent rap still plays an important role in maintaining the realness and believability of the hip hop community.
