It's hard sometimes being a music blogger when confronted with decisions on what to push. You retain some dignity as a writer, so selling out your ability to push something is definitely a high valued aspect of the job. For me, I retain even more than a normal amount for hip hop submissions.
The industry is rather drowned out since the internet came along, so I vowed to only push rappers I believed in. Today I have a new prospect- well, two prospects. One is a producer by the name of Hounded, while the lyricist is named Beau Young Prince. They just collaborated on a new modern day, indie hip hop track called "Say My Name" via Yunizon Records. This one is definitely for the mellow aficionados, and I don't recommend taking this for any other trendy rapper trying to make it. The production is above quality, while the lyrics and vocal melody sit sweetly upon a futuristic funk of rhythm.
Take a listen to "Say My Name" and hear some old references to very popular lyrics within Beau Young Prince's bars. It's fun to go "Oh yeah, I know who said that!"
