Haywyre tackles Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" with majestic synth jazz [Video]

Haywyre is something of a musical dynamo that dabbles in sound that seemingly belongs in the distant future. He has coined his music Post Avant-Garde Pre-Futuristic Jazz-Fusion, and that doesn't even really do it justice. Sometimes its glitch-hop, there are often elements of trap, and every now and then he'll throw in a pinch of dubstep, but it's always futuristic jazz.

In a moment of boldness, Haywyre decided to take on the Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal," and his rework is a dazzling reinterpretation that is epic in its sheer intricacy. Haywyre's "Smooth Criminal" maintains the essence of the original made famous by the King of Pop, but it deviates from the traditional into elements of synth jazz typical of the futurist. The video, which is basically just a stunning live performance of the remix, just helps add another dimension, shedding light on what went into recreating the classic.

Watch the video for Haywyre's rework of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" below, and be on the lookout for more from the promising Future Funk act.
