Every so often a previously unreleased track surfaces that really adds value to one’s impression of an artist, WNDRKND just let loose a forgotten cut featuring Well$ that does just that. Topiq The Smooth Prophet, who like WNDRKND and Well$, hails from North Carolina, also features and completes an unholy trinity of lyrical heat. The flavour of “Sorbet” plays as a departure from the cinematic tones of the WNDRKND work we’ve covered thus far on EARMILK, and feels more playful. WNDRKND, Well$ and Topiq aren’t playing around on this one though; all three of them put in solid stints and the lead artist recently described his motivation for staying close to home for these features: “I wanted to tap the best artists I knew who were around me… I wanted to tap guys who I know could tow the line…after all if we are having fun on a track, we will write entertaining bars instead of being saddled by a concept.”
Rap is rarely described as “fun”, so it’s really cool to hear three friends help raise each other’s games in a refreshing track like “Sorbet”, especially when you throw a delicious PGMW beat into the pot. With his renamed CVTS project slated for a June 30th release, you can download WNDRKND’s vintage gourmet offering below while you wait.
