German producer Essáy is back with a new EP, Ocarina, coming out July 1 via Cascine. It’s been revealed that the EP will feature remixes from The Field, Dominik Eulberg, and D/R/U/G/S, and the title track is now streaming as well.
As its title suggests, the carefree house tune features a spritely ocarina melody, the instrument that reminds everyone primarily of Legend of Zelda. While this could come off as tacky in the hands of someone less talented, Essáy slowly builds a repeating aria that hangs in the air for a gorgeous 8 minutes. The track reminds me of a prior Essáy standout, “Morning Mountain,” another cloud level house track that you just don’t want to end. This tops the already high standard I’ve come to expect from Essáy.
