Free The Robots tells "The Truth" with his 'Two Snakes' EP [Premiere]

Place a lo-fi grainy blanket over anything and it instantly adds scores of sonic awesomeness. Producers like Free The Robots know this all-too-well. With his seventh EP out today, Brainfeeder and Alpha Pup-associated LA-based producer Chris Alfaro takes the emotive road down the path to ambient weird in the most wonderful way possible. Fusing psychedelic soul with funky hip-hop and screwy robotic vocal formants, Two Snakes EP instantly finds a place in our hearts as uninhibited experimental gold. Enlisting remixes from Japanese beatmakers starRo, Ryuei Kotoge, and Ramza only serves to boost FTR's credibility in our book.

Considerably mellow, the album takes on the persona of early glitchy Heyoka and the synths of EPROM combined with the mellow face of Shigeto. You can listen to the slow-groove pleasantly-downbeat opening track, "The Truth", below, but we highly recommend giving the entire EP a listen. In fact, you'd be doing yourself a great disservice otherwise.

Free The Robots will be touring Japan and Asia with Belgian DJ Lefto from May 22 into June.
