The UK hip hop scene has gone through a bit of a resurgence as of late. Artists such as ItsNate, Little Simz and ThisisDA are just some of the names that are stoking the fires of the UK's rap division, and in the process spreading the word across shores.
This week it's the turn of another talented emcee to rise from the murky depths of the London streets and make his voice be heard. 23 year old Englishman Coops is no stranger to the stage, having supported the legendary Nas at the O2 in London, as well as completing a degree in performing arts at university. As we kick off the month of May, Coops has released the visuals for his track "Blessings", taken from his forthcoming mixtape Lost Soul. The track itself oozes those laid back, boom bap rap vibes, with some soulful keys atop of some snappy drums, "Blessings" sounds like it came straight from the streets of New York. This song also gives Coops the chance to show his lyrical prowess, with some nice references to J Cole and Kendrick Lamar thrown in amongst gritty lines about the area he lives in. "Blessings" also features fellow Londoner Rexx, who drops an equally dark verse, with a precise flow that makes it easy for the listener to follow along.
You can peep the visuals for "Blessings" below, and be sure to keep an eye out for Coops mixtape Lost Souls, which is set to be released 2nd June.
