I've posted along these lines before, and each time I get the urge to hold back because I feel readers won't be as interested in hip-hop instrumentals as I am. Then I think to myself, "f*** that, they need to hear it." Today I'm glad to be the middle man for Cam's new instrumental gift to Jay-Z "Hov Back!"
Cam aka Cameron Osteen from Las Vegas is the producer for the Grammy-winning J.U.S.T.I.C.E League and stirred this up, intended for Jay-Z. Cam has also produced for Lil Wayne, Chance The Rapper, Rick Ross, and many more. He produced three tracks for Chance’s hit album Acid Rap, which gives him an automatic ticket to my morning schedule. I enjoy Cam's shockingly loud approach to a rather soulful beat. This one takes me back to old Kanye joints like "Through the Wire" and "Family Business".
Here's how Cam explains the process behind the production:
I sampled myself singing the words, "Hov is back for you", pitched up the vocals, and made a beat out of it. I actually had the crazy opportunity to send beats to Jay-Z through a producer friend of mine, and this is the track I came up with to send. The producer friend did not think it was dark enough for Jay – so instead I uploaded it onto SoundCloud and it’s been catching fire!
Hit Cam's Soundcloud and jam to it now. Hip-hop is back baby.
