There’s a reason they call it “sexy sax” and new remix of “Drop The Game” by Flume and Chet Faker by Brooklyn based producer and DJ duo The Golden Pony (Timothy Monkiewicz and Thomas Murphy) is one of the more seductive remixes I’ve heard in recent memory. Tagline, “We have Afros and make disco,” sums it up very well. The duo exploded into the blogosphere just a year ago with their bootleg remixes of well-known electronic artists, with three #1 hits on HypeMachine and 1,000,000 plays on Soundcloud to boot! They later gained critical acclaim with their vintage pop remixes entitled “Golden Classics,” and are clearly poised to do it again here with their spin on this deep, funky house track. This is a duo I’d love to see live in NYC, who perform upbeat sets offbeat costumes that showcase how seriously they take the production aspect of their musical endeavors. Golden Pony did a great job of maintaining the vintage vibe of the original track here, while adding a high-energy beat combined with their standard flawless production that is sure to release a certain brand of sensuality in anyone who listens to it.
