You know him from my past posts, but you don't actually know who GoldLink is. I don't even know his true identity, which adds a mysterious and longing feeling in his music. I am always on the lookout for that email from Squaaash Club, hoping that the next drop will be the answer to the hip-hop up and comer's puzzle.
It may not be a complete answer, but the complete mystery ends today with the new release of visuals for his future bounce "stripper anthem" "Ay Ay." This is the first video release we've seen since The God Complex dropped, and although we may not get a clear vision of Link's features, we are given a holy picture within a gold frame that gives us his mugshot. If you've been searching for a clue, look no further. As with the video for "When I Die," GoldLink isn't featured as an actor or character, but watch closely on this one and you might be able to catch a glimpse of his face at the end.
GoldLink again teamed up with director Nathan R. Smith for another short-film in the form of a music video, continuing the trend first set with "When I Die." With this new video the rapper and director deliver what, at first glance, looks like a visual fitting for a track built around the hook "bounce that ass for my kinfolk," followed by three rather "curvaceous" woman who are supposedly making a "sacrifice to their God" or GoldLink.
