New track by Zone Def electronic artist and producer Tone Ra is one of the more tripped out releases I’ve come across in a long time. A driving beat moves the whimsical synths and exuberant vocal samples throughout the duration of the song, but the spaced out and illustrative vibe is undeniable as with many releases from the intriguing artists represented by the Cambridge based label. I’ve had the privilege of seeing him perform in more private settings (as well as listening to collaborations with fellow local artists W00dy amongst others) and he holds true to these experimental and altogether visual standards live. The song itself is almost a wish that those in the EDM community will at times give themselves into the high that listeners and electronic artists alike can get from simply giving in to their own interpretations of the music, instead of just relying on technical observations. If you happen to be a Boston local make sure to catch his opening performance for Boiler Room and Red Bull Studios endorsed artist Sweater Beats presented by Crush! Boston this Friday! The event also features other innovative electronic artists Darko, TuneSquad, CRIMM, and Woolf.
