A few months ago I had the privilege of attending Skrillex's Takeover tour in one of the most intimate and enjoyable venues in SF. That night Mezzanine played host to the OWSLA founder, an upcoming dark techno/electro producer Etnik, and famed dubstep artist Seven Lions, who came together to with 1,000 fans for the show of a lifetime. Each player had something special to offer, and Seven Lions served up his signature dish of melodic dub, blended with bits from around the entire electronic spectrum. This performance and the surrounding Worlds Apart tour served as lead ups to his his new EP of the same name.

Following the style set forth in his live shows, Worlds Apart journeys through 5 tracks that expand the mind and heighten the senses. Every song demonstrates the California artist's range, slipping through an all-original lineup with stellar collaborations. "Strangers" with Myon &Shane 54 and vocalist Tove Lo broke eight months ago, a progressive house anthem of bright builds and crisp claps. Next up come two tracks with the 'MoonChild' known as Kerli: "Keep It Close", which might be considered the most reserved work on the release, and the EP's namesake, "Worlds Apart", a worthy track full of extended breaks and a lyric-centered progression. "Nepenthe", the only solo song from the release, even seemed to touch on trance, as the track switched from dub and into fast-paced, ethereal plains  Finally Ellie Goulding joins on the most popular track so far, lending her trademark vocals to the jubilant gem that is "Don't Leave". Grab Worlds Apart off iTunes today, and catch Seven Lions at shows across North America
