From the second that Marian Hill’s Samantha Gongal's haunted vocals come in, lightly sung, intense and enhanced with subtlety tortured synths, the listener is immediately drawn into Long Beach based producer and engineer Marce Reazon’s remix of “One Time.” But Reazon has done his own smooth and slow spin on the group's jazzy and undeniably creepy styling on the track and layered a subtle beat underneath Jeremy Lloyd's original production so as not to take away from it. Not altogether surprising since Reazon has two Top 5-charting HypeMachine remixes and production credentials for the likes of Kanye West, John Legend, Kid Cudi and Fools Gold amongst others. The more modern beat strengthens when necessary to create the force that glides through her track, all the while retaining that old school jazz standard of understated elegance. Anything but the hit and run boy she sings about, Reazon’s remix was included as the final single off of their latest album Play, now available on iTunes.
