Steve Angello's output in the post-Swedish House Mafia era has been nothing short of impressive. From charting originals such as "SLVR" to the darker tech-house work of his spinoff label, X, the man who was once associated with the radio-friendly anthems of EDM seems to be re-establishing his presence as a quality producer and curator. While a number of ID tracks credited to the Size Records family are still yet to be released, one of the year's most anticipated has finally seen the light of day: a collaboration with Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman entitled "Payback". The track can be traced to almost a year ago, notably at Steve's 2013 Creamfields mainstage set, where he cleverly paired vocals from the iconic "In My Mind" in perfect harmony.
With climbing, anthemic toplines and clean, big-room plucks, this one is a progressive monster, and not in the distorted bass sense that is all too common in 2014. The track may be lyricless, but the breakdown is incredibly inviting for a number of vocalists; don't be surprised to see it as the instrumental for a variety of artist bootlegs and mashes. Whether altered or in its original form, expect "Payback" to be on the charting list of festival smashes this summer.
