The God Complex is a title I've got racing emotions for. It provokes controversy without saying anythng, it excites me even though I have no idea what to expect. It's like gold you can't touch… yet. The up and coming rapper out of the DMV, Goldlink, has been on a tear early in 201, dropping hit after hit in preparation for his forthcoming album, The God Complex. I first found Goldlink back when his "Creep" track dropped, and I was instantly dran to the nature of his voice and flow.
His newest drop is called "Planet Paradise" and it truthfully tripped me out at first. The track is produced by Louie Lastic, who confidently threw this beat together in such a fashion you would never be able to guess how the arrangement came about. ThisSongisSick dubs this one as "future bass" but I like to focus more intently on just how unique Goldlink really is.
Most recently released were visuals for the upcoming project, otherwise known as "When I Die." The track is a slow, almost non-rhythmic pattern that kind of leaves you aimless, eventually guided by Link's gradual flow. I respect that he can release something of that stature and then turn right around after SXSW and show us just how fast he can speed it up. Make sure to jot down Goldlink now, because come July this guy isn't going to be a regular Soundcloud rapper. Watch out for The God Complex and its upcoming release, and give "Planet Paradise" a peep to get familiar. Look out for the free download on April 1st via Squaaash Club.
