Eric Prydz is a unique phenomenon in electronic music. With tenure of over a decade of releasing records, it still feels like he is at the top of his game in current times. While other veteran acts make drastic shifts in their style to stay relevant, Prydz remains true to his craft with every performance and every production. But that’s not to say he’s a one-trick pony. In 2013 alone, his originals ranged from the euphoric progressive anthem “Lycka” to the dark and twisted synth-driven “Power Drive” (and that’s under the Pryda moniker alone).
Pegged by Prydz himself as the “year of releases”, “Liberate” shows no signs of slowing down for the Grammy-nominated artist. It’s another feel-good track from Pryda, balancing mellow, emotive vocals against a signature snare drum that can make any dancefloor erupt in unison. Originally debuted as Zane Lowe’s hottest record in the world, it’s yet another weapon in Pryda’s extensive arsenal.
The timing isn’t bad either, with only a week to go before his Miami highlight reel that includes the next iteration of the HOLO concept, a 2-hour Cirez D set at Ultra Music Festival, and the highly anticipated Pryda vs. Mau5trap label night. As a clear leader in technical capabilities, production acumen, and performance creativity, it’s safe to say that Eric Prydz has dance music in the palm of his hand.
