Adding funk to a powerful vocal is always a delicate combination, especially when handling a remix. Too many new sounds and the original voice is lost, but too few can quickly turn rhythm into a ballad that flops on the dancefloor.
On the latest round of remixes of Mariah Carey’s “You’re Mine (Eternal)”, Gregor Salto and Funkin Matt deliver an incredibly groovy take. With a breakdown that lets Mariah’s timeless voice shine, the two Fool’s Gold roster mates drop a bassline that you’ll have stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Reminiscent of recent hits like Oliver Heldens’ “Gecko” or any production by Tchami, the popular sound that Disclosure helped pioneer is making its way into a more housey vibe. No release date yet on this one but we’ll be keeping a close eye on this one.
