Legends in the underground scene, Booka Shade, the German electronic duo of Arno Kammermeier & Walter Merziger, deliver a scintillating remix EP today on Blaufield Records. Having started in the music scene almost two decades ago, the two released their seventh album, EVE, last fall, a 12-track adventure that included today's featured song, "Crossing Borders". Without a doubt, Booka Shade has tapped some of the most formidable producers to rework the tech house masterpiece: Chopstick & Johnjon, Thodoris Triantafillou, CJ Jeff & Mihalis Safras, Pleasurekraft, and Kolombo.
From this long list of heavyweights, and on top of Booka's 4 own edits, the boys of Pleasurekraft and Belgian's Kolombo really hit the mark. The former reinvent expansive synth chords that call out across the track, but keep the relative simple nature of the original. On the other hand, Kolombo ups the ante with a busy remix that heavily leverages vocals and picks up the tempo.
