Burlington-based producer and DJ, Hugh Cosby, has been making music for close to a decade. With 7 years of classical piano, 4 of jazz, and DJing since the Bar Mitzvah years, he's certainly got an ear for a good melody. His first and latest release, "Lover's Holiday" displays portions of each style while simultaneously straying far from the norm in terms of structure and inflection. The individual samples and instruments, though widely diverse, come together nicely in this downbeat moderately-distorted pseudo-classical piece. With the grand piano providing both the low and top end melody, harp and violin plucks for flavor, and vocal chops and white noise risers rounding it all out, "Lover's Holiday" sounds like a perfect tune for a Darren Aronofsky film (i.e., Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan).
