Let me introduce you to a hidden gem from New Zealand who goes by HIGH HØØPS. This incredibly talented producer has consistently amazed me with every track he’s put out, starting with “Keep Your Love Close”. I knew I had stumbled upon something especially unique and powerful. Now, several months later, “Magic Rain” is here, and it is as awe-inducing and spectacular as I imagined.
This track isn’t like any ordinary synth pop track. This track is a story to be told, with an enrapturing beginning, middle, and end. With hushed vocals and whispered melodies, this begins our musical journey. Those vocals guide our ears to heavy waves that are spacey and deep, then the lyrics set in. In the final break, there’s one last segment of the perfect vocal/beat combination that leads into a transcendence of uplifting euphoria just to top it off. Yeah, it’s that good. Let it take you to a special place, the magic is certainly apparent. This is a track that is certainly earning a special place in my collection.
